The Attalla Idol is returning for its 7th season for 2017. It is a singing competition for amateurs and aspiring professional performers. Here, artists 14 years old and older have the chance to showcase their skills for the title of “2017 Attalla Idol”... as well as, other prizes! Contestants will submit a video (via YouTube link) for the Preliminary Round 1. The Top 20 will advance to the Preliminary Round 2, where they will perform before a panel of judges. Nine finalists (and 1 alternate) will be chosen to compete for the title of “2017 Attalla Idol” at the dinner theater on April 8, 2017. Artists in the final will perform before a live voting audience, as well as, a panel of judges. One talented person will be named “Attalla Idol.” Each contestant will be judged on the following criteria: audience interaction, stage presence/appearance, song selection, timing, pitch, and projection/voice control.
Contestants may choose their own song for the competition following these guidelines:
- Song must be less than five minutes in length
- Song must be appropriate for a family audience (copy of the lyrics must be presented with registration paperwork). KEEP SONG SELECTION VERY CONSERVATIVE to appeal to the conservative nature of our community. This applies to both song selections if you are in the finals.
Option 1: Sing with a pre-recorded accompaniment. The contestant must supply the MP3 recording via email (preferred) or CD (labeled with correct track number). The sound crew is not responsible if the CD does not work or is not labeled correctly. Contestants must pick up their CD from the sound booth after the competition.
Option 2: Sing with an instrument or accompanist. Contestants must supply their own accompanist and/or instrument. There will, however, be a keyboard available.
